In Abigail is Fire I was comparing a character in The Crucible to an object that character resembled. In my Nature Essay I either had to agree or disagree with Emerson and Thoreau about their theory, Transcendentalism. In Abigail is Fire I learned how to describe one particular thing to another thing. I also learned how to you descriptive writing and to make my writing more interesting to read. In my Nature Essay I learned to describe my experience and use stronger details. In this class I have learned how to use better descriptions, write a thesis statement, and write a better introduction and conclusion.
In Abigail is Fire I did not write in present tense throughout the essay. Also, in the first paragraph I incorporated the title of the book and the author. In my Nature Essay I revised my introduction and conclusion. I also deleted my first sentence because it did not fit and I added a thesis statement.
In Molly's essay, Becoming A Christian, I liked how she did great detail describing how she felt. I also liked how she talked about thinking she had Jesus in her heart but really was not for sure. In Kacie's essay, Departure to Gauntlet, I liked how she talked about her nervous excitement about going to the Gauntlet. She used great detail. In Morgan's essay, Elevate, I loved how she used good detail about how she felt. I also liked hearing about how great an experince she had.

Nature Essay
The Transcendental thought is about nonconformity, self-reliance, free thought, confidence, and importance of nature. Ralph Waldo Emerson and David Thoreau came up with the theory Transcendentalism. They thought that everything in the world, including human beings, is a reflection of the Divine Soul. This theory could be shown by taking a walk and looking at your surroundings.
One day in my English class, we decided to take a nature walk through these woods up beside our school. As we left the cool building into the humid, hot air outside you could just feel the temperature change. You then started to notice little rolls of sweat just roll down some of the guys faces. When we hit the woods path it felt so peaceful and it just felt like all your worries just went away. We walked on the pathway full of leaves, as we listened them crunch beneath our feet. You could just hear echoes of people's voices far away and their laughter. As we came upon this hammock a lot of us got on top of it and laid down. We stared up into the heavens above and saw the beautiful, blue sky and the green tops of the trees. "Shall we with pains erect a heaven of blue glass over ourselves, though when it is done we shall be sure to gaze still at the true ethereal heaven far above, as if the former were not?" (Thoreau 244). As I lay there I felt free of everything. Nature is such a beautiful thing and many people do not take the time to appreciate God's gift to us. "When we speak of nature in this manner, we have a distinct but most poetical sense of mind" (Emerson 220). As we continued our walk we tried to avoid the thorns poking out of the bushes. A few times the thorns would snatch you and make a little mark on your body. This kind of represented to me how everyone gets scarred in life in many ways. Either if you fail a test or someone close to you passes away, you and others are scarred from these actions, but we learn to deal with them and they fade away.
When we took this walk it showed all kinds of the Transcendental thought. People can use their intuition to behold God's spirit revealed in nature or in their own souls. When we just take some time to discover how beautiful nature really is we find a different side of us.

Abigail is Fire
The Crucible by Arthur Miller had a very unique character, Abigail Williams. She is very smart and witty. When she got in a bind she could come up with ways to get out of it. On the other hand she told lies, manipulated her friends and her entire town, and sent innocent people to their deaths. Abigail resembles fire to me because of the hatred, the scorching, and the destroying that was done.
Abigail and John Proctor had an affair, but she still wanted to be with him. She accused his wife, Elizabeth Proctor, of being a witch. When Proctor and her had their affair this destroyed his and Elizabeth's relationship. Fire destroys things. When something is put on fire it will burn and ruin. Fire also scorches people. Abigail scorched many people by trying to get her ways. She ruined her reputation by blaming others for witchcraft. She also said that the devil was trying to overtake her. Abigail also blamed that the devil was in Mary Warren. Mary Warren finally gave in her scheme and took Abigail's side to get all the heat away from herself. When people mention the devil it reminds me of fire. She did a very devilish scheme to get her ways. "And mark this. Let either of you breathe a word, or the edge of a word, about the other things, and I will come to you in the black of some terrible night and I will bring a pointy reckoning that will shudder you. And you know I can do it; I saw Indians smash my dear parents' heads on the pillow next to mine and I have seen some reddish work done at night, and I can make you wish you had never seen the sun go down!" (Arthur 20). Abigail threatened the others if they did not side with her.
Abigail had a different side to her. At first we saw her as this innocent girl until people started to find about her committing adultery. I think the fire resembles her well by the devilish output she had to others. Also, the destroying that hurt everyone including herself. She hurt Proctor and Elizabeth and didn't even end up being with him. He loved Elizabeth and love conquers everything.
